Synopsis:
The phenomenal success and staying power of the Three Stooges can be attributed to many factors, but more than half a century after they first burst their way into the hearts of fans, one thing remains clear: the end of their popularity is nowhere in sight.

Born October 22, 1903, Jerome Lester Horwitz (Curly Howard) was the baby in a family of five children. As he entered his teens, the burgeoning vaudeville act of his older brothers Moe and Shemp fueled his fascination for show business. With Larry Fine as the third Stooge, they were successfully touring the country with Ted Healy when Shemp decided to quit and pursue a film career. This decision left an opening for twenty-nine-year-old Curly to fill.

A big, innocent, lovable lug, Curly was the perfect foil for the slapstick comedy of the Three Stooges, and, even though he had virtually no show business experience, Curly had talent and he knew the Three Stooges routine. It wasn't long before this incarnation. of theThree Stooges catapulted to stardom in the early 1930s.

Curly was forced to retire in 1946 when he suffered a major stroke; he passed away on January 18, 1952. Although the Three Stooges continued - with Shemp rejoining Moe and Larry for awhile until his untimely death in 1955 -their years with Curly resulted in some of the best-loved comedy ever filmed.
